MISS MERJA

Merja Soria is an internationally known musician who has over 15 years of experience in the field of early childhood music education.

Miss Merja is a native of Finland, music instructor (since 1993) at San Diego State University. Masters Degree in Music at Sibelius-Academy in Finland.

Member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association (ECMMA)

2005: SDSU Achievement Award for Academic Excellence and Community Outreach

2004: Presenter at the National Conference of
American Orff Schulwerk Association.

2003: Profiled in the 2003 edition of Who’s Who in America

2002: Performer and Presenter at The California Music Education Association (CMEA) Winter Music Conference at SDSU.

2001: The National Geographic Television featured a song from Merja’s CD in the program "Beyond the Movie: Lord of the Rings".

1995-1996 Finlandia Foundation Performer of the Year.

1992: Played background music for a Coca-Cola commercial which was shown on National Television during the Winter Olympics.

1992: Performed a program of ancient music prior to the Los Angeles Philharmonic's performance of Sibelius' Kullervo Symphony.
